Abraham Lincoln Young

from $175.00

The image is based on Daguerreotype attributed to Nicholas H. Shepherd. Born in Hardin County, Kentucky, February 12, 1809, Abraham Lincoln became the sixteenth president in 1861. Lincoln was known as a self-taught lawyer, legislator and vocal opponent of slavery and he was instrumental in the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment, which made slavery unconstitutional. Lincoln made many speeches, but his Gettysburg Address stands as one of the most famous pieces of oratory in American history. Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth; his untimely death made him a martyr to the cause of liberty, and he is widely regarded as one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history. Lincoln died April 15, 1865. The background flag is the 33-star garrison flag - a military ensign - that flew over Fort Sumter where the first shots of the American Civil War were fired on April 13, 1861.

8 x 10 -  $175,  16 x 20  - $495,  24 x 30 - $695
