Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara on September 5, 1946, in Zanzibar, Tanzania. He spent time in a boarding school in Bombay (now Mumbai), India, where he studied piano. His first band, the Hectics and later a group called Ibex as their lead singer. He was born with four extra teeth in the back of his mouth that gave him both his bucktooth grin and, perhaps, his vocal abilities. Freddie Had a recorded range of three octaves. When he spoke, he was more of a baritone but he sang mostly in the tenor range. this painting is from his/Queen's performance at Live Aid in 1985. On November 23, 1001, Mercury released a statement that he had been tested HIV-positive and had AIDS. Mercury died of AIDS-related bronchial pneumonia on November 24, 1991, at age 45.
