John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline Massachusetts. Over the course of his life, he served as a navy commander, congressman, and senator. JFK was youngest elected president. He won a Pulitzer Prize for his biographies "Profiles in Courage", established the peace Corps in 1961, averted nuclear war through negotiations with Soviet leader Khrushchev, fostered civil rights and equal pay. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy began an expansion of the U.S. space program and committed the nation to the ambitious goal of landing a man on the Moon by the end of the decade. John F. Kennedy was assassinated at 12:30 p.m. on 22nd November 1963, in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas while traveling with his wife Jackie Kennedy by Lee Harvey Oswald. JFK was 46 years old. The painting's background shows the fruits of his vision with the Apollo 11 flag planted on the lunar surface by astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin with Michael Collins flying the command module Columbia on July 16, 1969. Note the footprints in the moon's regolith.
