Leonardo da Vinci

from $175.00

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was born April 15, 1452 In Anchiano, Italy. He was a painter, muralist, drawer, architect, inventor, and was the epitome of a Renaissance Man. In addition to the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, da Vinci filled many notebooks with inventions, observations and theories about aeronautics, anatomy, nature, mechanics, physics, weaponry and more. He is credited with designs for the bicycle, helicopter, submarine, military tank, and many more. Da Vinci died at Cloux (now Clos-Lucé) May 2, 1519 at age 67. This painting commemorates the 500th anniversary of da Vinci's death; and it is based on a da Vinci's 1512 red chalk self-portrait. His facial orientation is that of his Mona Lisa portrait, thus the creative use of the background da Vinci used for his enigmatic painting. Note the duplication of Mona Lisa's eyes that will follow you from any angle; and there is the number "500" hidden in the painting.

8 x 10 -  $175,  16 x 20  - $495,  24 x 30 - $695
